One of ITCRA’s key objectives is to represent its constituency by lobbying government and industry on key issues affecting our members. ITCRA has played a vital role in representing the value of the IT Recruitment Industry to Government at both State and Federal level.

The Consultative Forum on Mature Age Participation will provide advice to Government on practical solutions to address barriers to employment for mature age people, with a particular focus on addressing negative attitudes toward mature age job seekers and workers. The Forum commenced on 18 February 2010.

Skills Australia is currently updating the Skilled Occupations List (SOL) for 2012 and sought ITCRA's input concerning the ICT industry.

The Independent Review of Implementation of the ICT Reform Program by Dr Ian Reinecke, long awaited by the ITCRA Committee in Canberra, was leasted last Friday and ITCRA's report is referred to on pages 21-23. He does not disagree with nor dispute ITCRA's findings regarding treatment of labour. The report is being reviewed in depth by ITCRA and commentary will be available shortly.

INITIATIVE ONE- QUEENSLAND

ITCRA lobbied the Queensland Government Chief Procurement Office – QGCPO (part of the Department of Public Works) to reconsider its intended procurement policy for ICT Contractors. In a presentation made by the QGCPO July 24 to Industry, the Government presented a master Vendor model for all ICT contractor procurement for the Whole-of Government for Queensland.

INITIATIVE TWO – AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT

ITCRA first met with members in February 2009 to discuss the impact of the recommendations made in The Gershon Report which was presented to the Minister for Finance and Deregulation, The Hon. Lindsay Tanner, on 28th April 2008.
